Chapter 102 Kuafu Kuiwei
Chapter 102 Kuafu Kuiwei
When Ning Xiaoxi woke up, she found herself still on the reindeer's back, but she was tied to it. Actually, it wasn't really tied up; a cloth bag was wrapped around her upper body, not tightly, but it prevented her from moving her arms.
Kuiwei Shanyue was still running beside her, and there were also more than a dozen tall figures around them, each at least a head taller than Kuiwei Shanyue.
【Dumplings.】
[They were from the Kuafu Kuiwei clan.]
[It's obvious from looking at it. What I want to ask is, isn't Kuiwei Shanyue my good friend?]
Even your best friend can get you arrested!
What use are you to me?
They won't hurt you. You can't defeat a Super-Rank Yuki-onna alone; with the help of the Kuafu tribe, it will be much easier.
You mean they can help me?
That depends on how well your negotiations go. However, Kuiwei Shanyue is your friend, so you should be able to reach an agreement.
I'm truly grateful to him as a friend.
"Xiao Xi, you're awake." Kuiwei Shanyue looked at Ning Xiaoxi innocently with his big eyes.
Ning Xiaoxi glanced at him indifferently and said nothing.
"Girl, it's not right for you to go to Kongsang Mountain alone." A loud voice rang out beside her, causing Ning Xiaoxi's small chest to resonate with a feeling of emptiness.
Riding on the back of a two-meter-tall reindeer, one still has to look up to see its imposing figure. With a full beard, thick eyebrows, round eyes, and ruddy skin, it looked like Zhang Fei. Ning Xiaoxi pursed her lips, afraid she would burst out laughing.
"Xiao Xi, let's have a good talk when we get to the clan's territory." Kuiwei Shanyue looked at Ning Xiaoxi with a somewhat aggrieved expression.
Ning Xiaoxi didn't even look at him this time. Seeing him made her feel annoyed, so she decided not to look at him at all.
Ning Xiaoxi closed her eyes and scanned her cave dwelling. "Huh? Where's the fountain in front of my main hall? It's gone."
What happened to that withered little tree? My huge fountain couldn't even make it grow a meter taller?
Are those spirit crystals hanging on the first layer of branches? Why have they turned into red leaves?
Is that a heart on the second layer? A heart vein hangs there, swaying back and forth like it's on a swing.
Who grows cabbages on tree branches?! Can't you be a little more careful?!
Ning Xiaoxi, unable to bear the sight, opened her eyes and saw Kuiwei Shanyue's adorable big face.
Ning Xiaoxi slammed herself forward onto the reindeer's back with a thud.
Before nightfall, Ning Xiaoxi and her group finally returned to the valley where the Kuafu tribe lived.
The valley is surrounded by towering snow-capped mountains, their steep slopes and sheer cliffs a common sight. The peaks pierce the clouds, gleaming with a cold light under the sun, like giant fortresses forged by nature from ice and snow, guarding this mysterious land. The narrow mountain pass acts as a natural barrier, isolating the valley from the outside world; only by passing through this treacherous pass can one enter the territory of the Kuafu tribe.
At the mountain pass, two tall giant figures stood on the left and right, dressed in thin clothes, with red hair and bushy beards, holding up the sun with their hands.
Ning Xiaoxi looked closely for a long time and realized that it really was being held up; the sun was suspended in the air. Those two were indeed suns, lined up alongside the setting sun behind them, the three suns with hazy halos, like three egg yolks!
Massive glaciers crisscross the valley, resembling giant silver dragons winding and coiling between the hills. Their surfaces are smooth as mirrors, refracting the setting sun's rays to create a mesmerizing blue glow—beautiful yet dangerous. Deep, seemingly bottomless crevasses, like jagged wounds, lie hidden within the glaciers; a single misstep could lead to certain death.
The group traversed the glacial dragon-like landscape, the maze-like paths wide enough for five Kuafu tribesmen to walk side-by-side in some places, and narrow enough for reindeer to pass through in others. Occasionally, pine and spruce forests would intersperse in the clearings of the glacier. These pines and spruces stood tall and straight, their branches bent by the weight of snow, forming unique shapes. The color of the coniferous forests was slightly darker than the surrounding snow and ice, bringing a touch of warmth and life to this cold valley. Under the light of three setting suns, the snow on the pine needles shimmered with a pale golden light.
In some corners of the valley, low-lying mosses and lichens could be seen, clinging tightly to the rocks and snow, their pale green and gray hues adding a touch of life to this silvery-white world. They no longer galloped, but strolled leisurely, the reindeer occasionally lowering their heads to nibble on this wild food.
As dusk fell, snowy owls spread their broad wings and circled above the valley, their eyes incredibly sharp. Their feathers were pure white with black spots, and their calls were clear and resonant, echoing through the valley.
Every time the reindeer hears the call of the snowy owl, it can't help but pause for a moment, but it's not a noticeable pause. It's only because Ning Xiaoxi is riding on its back that she can clearly feel its pause, a pause out of fear.
We finally crossed the glacial area and officially entered the valley.
In the center of the valley, there is a relatively open area, which is the settlement of the Kuafu tribe.
Rows of enormous tents, made of animal hides and thick cloth, were scattered throughout the settlement, providing protection against the extreme cold. Various mysterious patterns and symbols were painted on the tents. In the center of the settlement was a huge fire pit, its flames burning year-round, providing warmth and light for the tribe. A wide path ran along the center, leading to the highest point of the settlement, where the largest tent palace stood. In front of the palace was an open space planted with a towering mulberry tree. Unlike the ones they had seen outside, this mulberry tree was enormous, bare of leaves and covered in snow, its trunk and branches the only thing standing out strangely within the Kuafu tribe's territory. Though it couldn't block out the sky, it soared into the clouds.
Ning Xiaoxi strained her neck so much it almost broke, but she still couldn't see the head.
Night had fallen, and the sky was filled with twinkling stars. The branches of the three mulberry trees seemed to pierce the stars.
Right at the entrance to the tent palace at the highest point stood a tall figure, his long black robe trailing on the ground, his long black hair trailing on the ground, but he was too far away for Ning Xiaoxi to see his face clearly.
The entire tribal territory was quiet. Tall men stood at the entrances of some tents, watching the group from a distance. There were people coming and going within the territory, men and women, but no elderly or children. They were curious but no one approached or discussed the matter; they simply stood quietly and watched.
In this tranquil environment, the reindeer's toes touched the ground much more lightly, and they dared not make a sound.
As they walked to the huge mulberry tree in front of the hall, a soft yellow halo emanated from the tree trunk and enveloped them.
Suddenly, through the halo of light, Ning Xiaoxi could clearly see the tall figure standing in front of the hall.
"Black Dragon!"
