Chapter 182 The Brat
Chapter 182 The Brat
"We want to see the Sixth Prince!"
"Your Highness, please stand up for us!"
"Your Highness, please stand up for us!"
……
Lin Ziping quickened his pace, grabbed the railing, and looked down.
The first floor was packed with people, shouting excitedly.
Lin Ziping frowned. The people below him were a group of strangers.
What about Li Zhen and the others?
Seeing that the people downstairs were pushing past the waiter and shopkeeper Xiao and about to rush upstairs.
Lin Ziping quickly turned around.
They happened to come face to face with Ji Xun, who had just opened the door to check.
Lin Ziping said succinctly, "Something's wrong downstairs."
Upon hearing this, Ji Xun frowned and said, "Protect His Highness."
Lin Ziping nodded, drew the knife from his waist, and stood at the top of the stairs.
Ji Xun knocked on the door of the room where Gao Chi was staying, went in and said something. A little while later, he and Wang Changping came out with solemn expressions.
"What happened?" Wang Changping asked.
“There’s a crowd of people gathered downstairs; there’s a risk of a riot,” Lin Ziping said.
Wang Changping said, "Weren't they the refugees from outside the city just now?"
Lin Ziping shook his head: "I noticed that although their clothes were worn out, their complexions were ruddy, and most of them were men, so they probably came prepared."
Wang Changping lowered his eyes and pondered for a moment before looking at Lin Ziping: "Lin Ziping, are you willing to lend the Sixth Prince a hand?"
Lin Ziping did not answer immediately, but shifted his gaze to Ji Xun.
Ji Xun did not look at Lin Ziping.
"Brother Gao, if you need anything, Ziping will not hesitate to help," Lin Ziping said, clasping his hands in greeting.
Wang Changping nodded with satisfaction: "Your Highness was right about you."
Lin Ziping said with a straight face, "Please make the arrangements, Chief Wang."
“All of Miss Qiongying’s people have been reassigned here. Go and protect her,” Wang Changping said.
Upon hearing this, Lin Ziping felt a sense of relief, realizing that there must be a plan in place.
Thinking of what Gao Chi and Li Qiongying had said that day when he was drunk, he gave Ji Xun an ambiguous look.
Wang Changping said, "However, you can't go over from the first floor now."
Lin Ziping was still gossiping about Ji Xun and Li Qiongying, so he casually agreed.
"Have you figured out how to get to the backyard?" Wang Changping asked.
Lin Ziping was taken aback; he really hadn't thought of that.
"They're here!"
A shout interrupted Lin Ziping's words.
Ji Xun pushed Lin Ziping into the room where Zhang Mo was staying and said, "Be careful."
Inside the room, Zhang Mo sat upright, and was taken aback when he saw Lin Ziping being pushed in.
"How's the situation outside?" he asked.
"This might not be good. We're looking for the Sixth Prince. You stay inside and don't go out. I'm going to the backyard to check on Ji Xun's childhood sweetheart." Lin Ziping said as he opened the window and looked out.
This spot is right next to the street, and the height is about 4 meters.
Lin Ziping looked around the room and took down the curtains and tablecloths that were used for decoration.
"Stop just watching, come and help," Lin Ziping said to Zhang Mo.
The two tied the items together to make a rope about three meters long.
"What are you doing?" Zhang Mo asked.
Lin Ziping did not answer. He tied the rope to the window frame, climbed onto the windowsill, and prepared to jump.
Zhang Mo understood what Lin Ziping was going to do and said, "This is a bit short."
"That's enough. Hide well and don't go out." Lin Ziping thought for a moment, then untied the dagger from his boot and put it in Zhang Mo's hand. "Take it."
As he spoke, he pulled on the crispy rope made from the curtain and tablecloth and slid down.
The rope wasn't long enough; it was still some distance from the ground.
Lin Ziping let go of his hand and jumped down.
He covered his head before landing.
He rolled on the spot.
The spot they chose was still covered in soft, fluffy snow. Lin Ziping brushed the snow off his clothes and checked himself over; thankfully, he wasn't injured.
Without lingering, Lin Ziping went around to the back door of Fuchunlou and knocked for a long time, but no one answered.
I guess he went to the front to help.
Lin Ziping looked at the wall and prepared to climb over it.
The wall was about three meters high, and Lin Ziping jumped up and down several times, but couldn't climb it.
Lin Ziping couldn't help but mutter curses.
"Ha ha--"
Suddenly, I heard children laughing nearby.
Lin Ziping turned around and saw two children wrapped up like rice dumplings perched on the wall, looking at him and laughing.
When he was discovered, he grinned and made a face.
"You're acting like a monkey show."
"Haha, he's just like a monkey!"
……
The two children started talking as if no one else was around.
The assessment is complete; they are undoubtedly two mischievous kids.
Lin Ziping didn't waste any words, grabbed a snowball from the ground, rolled it up, and threw it over.
"Snapped--"
Snowballs scattered on the shoulders of the two people who were standing close together.
The two children stood there stunned, and before they could react, Lin Ziping threw another snowball at them.
"Kid, do you have a ladder at home?" Lin Ziping asked, weighing the snowball in his hand.
The two children realized what was happening and picked up the snow from the ground, throwing it at Lin Ziping.
Unfortunately, he was too weak. Although he had taken the high ground, he still lost his aim and fell to the ground before reaching the edge of the forest.
"Wow wow-"
The two children were utterly defeated by Lin Ziping, and he began to launch a demonic attack.
"Young Master, why are you climbing on the wall? It's so high! Come down quickly!"
Voices came from inside the courtyard where the two children were staying; it was probably servants coming to find them.
"He hit us!" the two children complained, pointing at Lin Ziping.
"what?!"
A rustling sound came from inside the wall, and soon two heads peeked out.
Lin Ziping took out the county government's waist token and said, "The county government is handling a case and needs to requisition your staircase. Open the door immediately!"
"Sir..." The two "heads" rubbed their eyes, carefully looked at Lin Ziping's waist tag, and spoke incoherently.
Lin Ziping repeated what he had just said.
"Go and fetch it immediately! Disrupting the county government's handling of the case is a serious offense!" Lin Ziping shouted.
Perhaps intimidated by Lin Ziping's aura, the two little brats slumped against the wall, looking rather dejected.
"These two children have offended the officials. According to the law, they deserve twenty slaps to the face. Do you want me to pretend this never happened, or do I want to go have some tea with your master?" Lin Ziping squinted and slowly drew the knife from his waist.
"No...no...no...sir, I'll go find a ladder right away," one of the "heads" said.
“You only have half an incense stick’s time. I need a longer ladder that can get you up this wall,” Lin Ziping said, pointing to the wall they were lying on.
"Yes." The two were about to carry the two children down the wall.
Lin Ziping rolled a snowball and threw it on the wall, pointing to one of the people coming up from behind: "Go get it, they stay here."
The two men exchanged a glance, put the two children down, and one of them left.
A short while later, a bamboo ladder came down the wall.
Lin Ziping stepped forward, took the ladder, and placed it against the wall of Fuchunlou. It was just right!
"Thank you both for your help, young masters. I will report this to the county government and award you prizes."
Lin Ziping climbed up the wall of Fuchunlou, pulled up the ladder and placed it on the other side, then clasped his hands in a salute to the two children opposite him who had tears in their eyes.
I touched my cuff and found two candies.
Lin Ziping tossed two candies into the arms of the two children: "Thank you for assisting the county government in handling the case. This is a small reward for you."
After saying that, he turned over and climbed down the ladder into the courtyard of Fuchunlou.
So Lin Ziping didn't see the two brats imitating him by clasping their hands in return.
