Chapter 19 This High-Level Game
Chapter 19 This High-Level Game
After a sound of breaking glass and someone shouting to stop the murderer, the room lights came back on.
Hattori Heiji and Conan, who had already discovered that someone was trying to kill Fujisawa Toshiaki, tackled him, but it was obviously to no avail, as the ice spike still pierced Fujisawa Toshiaki's back.
If it weren't for Byakuya's push, Toshi Kento would probably have only managed to stab his arm.
"Hey! Cheer up!" Hattori Heiji helped Fujisawa Toshiaki up and found that the ice spikes had not injured his vital organs and that Fujisawa Toshiaki was still awake.
"Damn it, they escaped through the window!" Kogoro Mori shouted, looking at the window with a huge hole in it.
Heiji Hattori seemed to have seen through everything, looking confident, while Conan next to him also seemed to understand, but his expression was a little more serious than Heiji Hattori's.
Bai Yexiu subtly curled the corners of his lips as he observed the contrast in their expressions. It seemed Conan had already realized there was an accomplice; things were getting even more interesting now.
That's exactly the effect he wanted.
Conan glanced around at the people in the room and fell into deep thought.
Although it was understood how the killer caused the garage explosion, another problem arose—there were accomplices.
He had just watched as the murderer gripped the ice pick, and at the same time, he noticed that the lighter's flame suddenly shifted backward a short distance, as if someone had pushed Mr. Fujisawa. Otherwise, it couldn't have been Fujisawa Toshiaki who had retreated and walked right into the murderer's blade.
"Someone... pushed me from the front..."
After a long pause to recover, Fujisawa Toshiaki spoke with difficulty. His words completely confirmed Conan's theory of accomplice and shocked everyone.
"What? There are accomplices?" Hattori Heiji was utterly shocked.
This was something he had never imagined. In the previous two murders, he hadn't been able to deduce the existence of an accomplice, but this time, an accomplice had suddenly appeared...
Bai Yexiu, who had been paddling for a while, also feigned shock to play along. In reality, he was secretly observing the depth to which the ice spike had penetrated behind Fujisawa Toshiaki.
The ice pick wasn't inserted very deeply, nor did it hit any vital organs; in short, there was no danger to his life.
After confirming the situation, Bai Yexiu decided to continue remaining silent. He had listened to their reasoning, especially the addition of the accomplice theory…
This was a high-level game.
Bai Yexiu nodded to himself.
Of course, it wasn't just Bai Yexiu who had this idea; Conan also looked serious, carefully recalling whether he had seen the accomplice in front of Fujisawa Toshiaki.
Seeing their solemn expressions, and their inability to deduce who the accomplice was, Bai Ye Xiu Zhen felt a strange sense of accomplishment.
The group went to the kitchen and saw the burnt plug. Kogoro Mouri pointed at the innocent man, Ikuo Kawazu, and began a serious yet absurd deduction, successfully eliminating the wrong answer.
“That’s true, but something just feels off, doesn’t it, kid?” Hattori Heiji said knowingly.
Heiji Hattori had completely ruled out the possibility that "Ryuzawa Iroha is Shinichi Kudo." In his view, Conan was far more suspicious than him. He wasn't playing a detective game at all; he was genuinely reasoning.
On the other hand, the boy in black hadn't said much, just sitting idly by and offering no clues. How could the real Shinichi Kudo possibly stay put and not deduce anything? Besides, Conan, the "most likely suspect in Shinichi Kudo's case," knows this Ryuzawa, so Shinichi Kudo probably isn't him.
Conan, preoccupied with his own deductions, was on the verge of being exposed, completely oblivious to Heiji Hattori's subtle expression.
Seeing Conan getting tricked every day, Bai Yexiu couldn't help but laugh.
You're not even going to pretend anymore, are you?
Bai Yexiu's expression became as subtle as Hattori Heiji's. Only after being tricked did Conan realize that a group of people were surrounding him, so he pretended to be innocent and said, "But I'm just a little kid, I don't understand anything."
As it turns out, Bai Yexiu's intervention has made the case more complicated. Even Conan and Hattori have decided to find the main culprit first and then question him about who the accomplices are.
Because they couldn't find any accomplices.
The accomplice appeared suddenly in this incident, but not in the previous two incidents, which made Conan and Heiji Hattori feel very troubled.
For the next while, they discussed the entire case, but Bai Yexiu showed little interest in it. He already knew they would reason this way.
While everyone else was discussing, Bai Yexiu simply listened quietly.
However, after slacking off for too long, Bai Yexiu successfully caught Hattori Heiji's attention: "By the way, Ryuzawa, what do you think of this?"
Bai Yexiu had just finished listening to Hattori Heiji's reasoning and said with his arms crossed, "I remember the boss fell off the cliff at around 3:30. Based on the time it took for the body to stiffen and harden, the time of the murder is estimated to be between 3:30 and 6:30 the day before yesterday."
Bai Yexiu directly copied Hattori Heiji's reasoning from his memory.
He's the sixth one.
“Ryuzawa is right…” Hattori Heiji continued his reasoning. He felt that Ryuzawa Iruya only spoke when asked, and his words just now were exactly what he had thought. This person was simply too strange.
"But I still don't understand who that accomplice was..." Hattori Heiji said thoughtfully, stroking his chin.
Accomplice... Speaking of which, Ryuzawa... Conan turned his head to look at Byakuya Osamu, who was eating a sandwich to the side.
He had noticed this over the past few days; Long Ze seemed to have barely spoken. Moreover, Long Ze had disappeared for a while before that incident. Although he said he was making sandwiches, he could have easily wrapped wire around the plug to cause a short circuit and a power outage during that time.
But what about the motivation?
Conan had known him for a while, and although this person sometimes said some inexplicable things, Conan was still convinced that this person was trustworthy.
Toshi Kento looked at Shiroya with a probing gaze, and Shiroya noticed it and looked back up.
He shuddered. He still couldn't figure out what the boy was trying to do. What benefit would it bring him to be an accomplice and protect him?
Conan quickly decided to put aside the matter of accomplices for the time being and focus on catching the main culprit first.
At this point, after some discussion, Conan and Hattori seemed to have figured out who the culprit was, while Kogoro Mouri once again ruled out a wrong answer.
"You are the murderer, astrologer Maria Toda."
Bai Yexiu listened to Kogoro Mouri's hypnotic theories and thought they were a bit far-fetched, but fortunately he eliminated one wrong answer, and now it was obvious who the murderer was.
As expected, Hattori Heiji, who had just stepped out the door, suddenly collapsed and even found a seat on his own.
Bai Yexiu planned to stay there, just in case Toshi Kento tried anything funny. He just wanted to complicate the case a bit, but he didn't want to get himself involved.
When all the evidence was laid bare before Kento Toishi, he finally confessed—he had killed three people because of fanfiction. Meanwhile, Camilla was already in position, ready to silence him.
"So, one last question I'd like to ask is, who was the accomplice?"
Kento Toishi paused for a moment upon hearing this, then suddenly gave a self-deprecating smile: "That person, isn't he... uh..."
Suddenly, his expression changed, and he collapsed to the ground, his body stiffening.
"Mr. Toshi!"
Kogoro Mouri rushed forward, startling even Conan behind the door. Panic visibly spread through the crowd.
Finally, Conan rushed out from behind the door, and out of the corner of his eye, he saw something silver gliding quickly across the ground.
Heiji Hattori, who had been pretending to be asleep, also got up and ran over to check on Kenji Toishi.
"It's a snake!" Conan pointed in the direction the silvery-white snake had slithered. Everyone looked in the direction he was pointing, and sure enough, there was a small snake, about the thickness of a finger, crawling rapidly on the ground.
Upon seeing the snake crawl to Bai Yexiu's feet, Hattori Heiji and Conan both shouted.
"Brother Longze, be careful!"
"Long Ze! Get out of the way!"
The snake's owner, Bai Yexiu: ...
There was nothing else Bai Yexiu could do but let Camilla climb out of the window for the time being, and then she would come back onto him later.
Is it true that Conan's eyes can rotate 360 degrees like Gin's?
In the blink of an eye, the little snake vanished without a trace. Everyone stood frozen in place, still shaken.
So why would there be a snake in the living room?
Conan and Heiji Hattori simultaneously considered this chilling question. Sure enough, they found two bloody holes in Kento Toishi's ankle, confirming that his death was caused by the silvery-white venomous snake.
However, in Conan and Heiji Hattori's eyes, Kento Toishi's death was inextricably linked to that mysterious accomplice.
Who exactly was that accomplice?
For a moment, the same question popped into their minds...
In short, this was a high-level game.
