Chapter 104 Rebirth
Chapter 104 Rebirth
The commander at the central command post looked worried and dejected.
His deep and sharp gaze seemed to pierce through the layers of barriers on the screen, landing directly on the figure in the distance that haunted his dreams.
It was heartbreaking; the woman he loved was showing a different expression to another stranger.
Even though he knew that the look in her eyes didn't even reach the level of liking, this scene deeply stung his heart, and an uncontrollable jealousy spread through him.
He shook his head helplessly and sighed inwardly, "Alas, it's all my own fault. I was the one who erased her memories..."
But what if one day she really falls in love with someone else?
Thinking of this, a bitter smile appeared on the commander's face.
He slowly raised his long, slender fingers and gently pressed them against his forehead, his eyes revealing endless confusion and resentment.
Faced with the questions surging from the depths of his heart, he could only helplessly answer himself: "If that moment truly comes, perhaps I'll have no choice but to let her go..."
Before he could finish speaking, his hands were already clenched into fists, his knuckles turning slightly white from the excessive force.
His eyes, which were originally as cold as ice, were now filled with complex emotions as he gazed into the distance, as if trying to see the future he imagined through that void.
After a moment of silence, he finally spoke: "XX, please keep a close watch on the situation in the Three Realms. I need to go to my hibernation pod for a short rest. Report any unusual activity immediately."
"Yes, Commander," XX replied respectfully.
Inside this massive and mysterious central command post, numerous other smaller but equally important command posts surrounded it. At this moment, Xu Mei, filled with extreme resentment, was walking towards these areas.
As Xu Mei walked, she kept complaining, "Why are these damn worlds so unstable? I haven't even had a chance to start planning yet, and I've already failed for no reason! This is so unfair!" Her beautiful face was distorted with anger, and her eyes revealed deep dissatisfaction and confusion.
Meanwhile, the system closely connected to her was also in a state of confusion. Despite its best efforts to find the cause of the failure, it remained at a loss. Helpless, the system could only say to Xu Mei, "Host, please be patient. I will immediately go to the central command to request access to a higher-level processor in order to fully detect and determine what exactly happened."
Xu Mei put her hands on her hips, tilted her head back, and replied in a slightly complaining tone, "Then hurry up and go! Be quick, I really can't stand this situation anymore!" After saying that, she stood there angrily waiting.
Just then, the main system located at the core of the central command post received an emergency malfunction signal from the system to which Xu Mei belonged. Realizing the seriousness of the situation, the main system did not hesitate to quickly transmit the relevant information to the commander and reported: "Respected Commander, a system is currently experiencing an anomaly. It seems to be affected by some unknown force and has been passively following its host's actions."
Upon hearing the news, the commander frowned and ordered sternly, "Send over detailed information immediately so we can find out the truth as soon as possible." He knew that any system malfunction could trigger a chain reaction, threatening the successful execution of the entire mission. Therefore, this thorny issue had to be resolved as quickly as possible.
On the giant screen, a person's information appeared: Xu Mei - Saintess System.
Commander: "It's actually the Saintess System. What difficulty level was set for her?"
System: "Simplicity level, currently 1."
Commander: "Create a separate world series for her and sever all ties with Qiao Xiao."
System: "Commander, this is the automatic following setting configured by Lord Tianquan, and there's nothing we can do about it."
The commander looked surprised: "Why?" He couldn't help but wonder why Tianquan did that. "I will go to Tianquan myself."
Qiao Xiao stepped into the familiar charity headquarters once again, but unlike before, she had clearly lost her former enthusiasm. However, it's worth mentioning that her superb acting skills were still truly remarkable.
At that very moment, Qiao Xiao was intently crafting banners for this charity. The banners, like exquisite works of art, were surrounded and enveloped by colorful and vibrant lettering and lifelike paintings, making them absolutely beautiful and pleasing to the eye.
Initially, Qiao Xiao diligently and conscientiously dedicated herself to completing this task, full of hope and firmly believing that her efforts would bring about positive change. However, things didn't go as planned. She later realized that it was all just wishful thinking; they ultimately returned empty-handed. What was even more infuriating was that those disgruntled, passionate young people, without any regard for others' feelings, wantonly destroyed these banners that represented countless hours of hard work. In an instant, all the previous efforts vanished, as if they had never existed, collapsing completely.
Suddenly, she seemed like a different person, silently walking to the side and falling silent. At this moment, she was filled with self-loathing, as if an endless sense of loss had completely devoured her. She couldn't help but think that perhaps in that once familiar world, she too had felt deeply frustrated and helpless many times because of her own powerlessness.
It's disgusting! I beg God, please don't let me relive those unbearable memories anymore!
This world is inherently like this, filled with countless disappointments and frustrations. What can we do? It seems there's no other way but to silently accept reality.
Just then, Nancy noticed her and went up to greet her. Nancy smiled broadly and was exceptionally enthusiastic: "Oh my, my great benefactor, Ms. Qiao, I've been looking for you for ages!" The moment Nancy's gaze fell on Qiao Xiao, her eyes lit up with excitement.
Seeing this, Qiao Xiao became suspicious and asked, "Excuse me, how exactly did you find me?"
Mrs. Nancy lightly shook her luxurious mink coat, a hint of smugness flashing across her face. She then looked at Qiao Xiao with a touch of arrogance and said, "Hmph, for someone of my renown, finding someone is naturally no difficult task." With that, she continued to gaze at Qiao Xiao with a smile, her beautiful, captivating eyes framed by a pair of delicate, willow-leaf-like eyebrows that seemed to soar to the heavens.
Qiao Xiao frowned slightly, her slender eyebrows furrowing slightly, a hint of doubt and curiosity in her eyes. She pressed on, asking again, "So, what important matter has Madam come to see me about?"
Nancy's face was filled with gratitude, and her voice trembled with emotion: "I'm so grateful to you, Joe! You're a true benefactor and savior to our whole family! My youngest son has been asking to meet you. You know, if it weren't for your help, our lovely dog would probably be in big trouble. My God, I can't imagine how I would have handled that situation without your help!"
Upon hearing this, Qiao Xiao's heart stirred, but she remained calm and humble on the surface. Knowing that this was a rare opportunity, she tactfully asked, "In that case, would you allow me to join a charity? That way, I can better use my abilities to help more people or animals in need."
Since the other party had already indicated that any request could be made, I might as well just say what's on my mind.
Qiao Xiao readily agreed: "Of course I'd love to, my wife."
Nancy nodded in satisfaction and gave Qiao Xiao a business card.
Nancy received a phone call and had to leave. Qiao Xiao arrived at the charity where this location was situated.
A woman sat in the office, and at first glance, her appearance was rather clumsy and unassuming. She was dressed simply, wearing only a long shirt and a pair of old-fashioned trousers. At that moment, she was intently typing on the keyboard, while also enjoying the sandwich in her hand.
When Qiao Xiao stepped into the room, the woman looked up, examined him with a slightly questioning gaze, and asked, "May I ask who you are?"
Qiao Xiao remained expressionless as she silently handed a card to the woman, saying in a flat tone, "I'm here to become a member."
The woman took the card, glanced at it, and then exclaimed in realization, "Oh, so it was someone Nancy sent."
This was far less than the reaction Qiao Xiao had originally expected.
The woman slowly stood up and introduced herself: "Hello, my name is Leimi. Our charity mainly takes care of Area B. And Area B is mostly inhabited by middle and upper-class people."
