Chapter 134 Snow Disaster
Chapter 134 Snow Disaster
Qiao Xiao had a dream tonight that even she found unbelievable. The dream was unusually hazy, and she couldn't recall what it was like.
But it's definitely not bad, because she can smell a strong sweetness in the air.
She opened her eyes groggily and asked, "What is this?"
Before me are candied hawthorn berries, cream cakes, sugar cakes, candies, and more...
"It's sweet."
The sweet aroma filled the air, and desserts appeared in every corner. Qiao Xiao felt a sudden movement of air above her. She looked up and saw Astor.
"Is it sweet enough?" he asked.
Qiao Xiao met his eyes; they were still those dark, slightly scarlet eyes, but she felt a strange tenderness towards them.
Her heart was like a glass jar overflowing with candy, so full it could hardly hold any more.
She wanted to cry, but she didn't want her tears to blur her vision and prevent her from seeing the person in front of her.
Qiao Xiao stood up and looked at Asdor, "My lord..."
"Ok?"
Qiao Xiao smiled wryly: "Being your prisoner is really lucky, you get so much food."
Asdor: "You're not exactly a prisoner..."
Qiao Xiao: "Then what am I? An insignificant thing."
"Don't talk about yourself like that!"
Qiao Xiao squinted her eyes, "Why not? Why is the adult so kind to me? Is it out of pity? Unfortunately, I hate other people's pity the most."
As she spoke, Qiao Xiao clenched her hands. She hated herself for saying those words, even though she didn't want to hurt him with harsh words.
Qiao Xiao: Damn my inferiority complex, I hate myself.
Asdor slowly approached her, explaining somewhat quickly, "This is not pity."
He raised his arm, intending to get closer to her face, but ultimately withdrew it.
Qiao Xiao quickly pressed, "What is that?"
In an instant, Astor's eyes became like gentle water, rippling with light, as if touching the leaves in the autumn wind. He sighed deeply, helplessly rubbing his forehead, "If you keep bothering me like this, I'm leaving."
Qiao Xiao rushed forward and grabbed his clothes, pleading desperately, "Don't go! Please, I'd rather die than have you disappear!"
Astor is now the same height as her, but she inexplicably feels an unparalleled sense of security. Qiao Xiao is extremely fond of his aura, as if in some time and space, she lives by depending on him.
Astor: "Don't be so humble, Xiaoxiao. This is the last thing I want to see you like this."
Qiao Xiao stared intently at him. "You admitted it, didn't you? You're not Asdor. Take me with you. I'll stay by your side, I'll take any identity you want."
The person in front of him was stunned; he couldn't believe what she was saying.
A cloud of smoke enveloped Asdor, and in the blink of an eye, he transformed into someone else. This person was dressed in military uniform, and his face, which should have been sculpted with sword-like eyebrows and phoenix eyes, was now filled with haggardness and misery. His cold, pale skin was covered with bluish veins, and his tall body exuded a desolate sense of imminent collapse.
Qiao Xiao stared at him intently, tears streaming down her face, "I've finally met you, I love you."
The commander's eyes were filled with pity and tenderness. "You shouldn't say 'I love you' so easily."
Qiao Xiao seemed to have gone mad, stubbornly insisting, "But I know I will definitely love you!"
The commander, wearing leather gloves and a military cap, immediately stepped back when Qiao Xiao tried to touch him. "If you touch me, I will disappear immediately."
Qiao Xiao: "No! Don't disappear!" she pleaded with him almost frantically.
Whether I leave or not is not a decision I can make.
Qiao Xiao: "Who is that?!"
"Wait a little longer, okay? My love."
Qiao Xiao looked visibly dazed, and she murmured to herself, "My lover?"
"Yes, you have no other identity; you have always been my lover."
Qiao Xiao: "Then when will we be able to be together?"
"Xiaoxiao, take it slow. We have a long road ahead of us. I will always be with you. You don't need to worry."
With a bang, Qiao Xiao's tears streamed down her cheeks, and the commander's body instantly turned into several murky white fragments, dissipating little by little.
Qiao Xiao: "But I'm so afraid you'll disappear, please don't go?"
She didn't even dare touch the fragments, afraid of depriving herself of the possibility of seeing him again, because subconsciously, she knew that his disapproval was absolute.
"I love you, Xiaoxiao, we will definitely meet again."
He shed a tear from the chip, which fell to the ground and vanished in an instant.
Qiao Xiao collapsed to the ground in despair. She had once again experienced the loss of her lover and helplessly watched him leave.
She knelt on the ground, trying to find any trace of him, but there was nothing.
Suddenly, a gust of wind blew by, like a pair of hands wiping away Qiao Xiao's tears, as if it were using the wind to express its love for her.
The sweet foods exuded their own aromas. Qiao Xiao turned her head and looked at the countless desserts. Tears streamed down her face. She was more disheveled than ever before.
As luck would have it, Astor was awakened by her noisy crying.
"What are you crying about? Human, you're disturbing me!" he growled like a wild beast.
Qiao Xiao: I'm sorry, you had a nightmare.
Her demeanor turned icy cold in an instant; she could never truly show weakness in front of anyone but him.
Asdor: "Stop making noise, I need to rest."
Qiao Xiao: "I will do my best, my lord."
Astor was inexplicably irritated; he knew perfectly well that Qiao Xiao was putting on a brave face.
Astol: This human can cry?!
He was also quite surprised to hear her crying as soon as he woke up. "This human is always disrupting my plans!"
"Forget it, I'll go check on her, lest she try to kill herself again!"
He spread his wings, cast a spell, and appeared in front of Qiao Xiao.
Qiao Xiao's eyes were cold and piercing, devoid of any warmth. She appeared icy, but she had not yet fully processed what had just happened.
She stood up and asked herself, "How can I preserve this food, Qiao Xiao? How can I keep it forever?"
Her aura grew even colder, like a venomous green snake.
These desserts gain meaning because of the giver, and become worthless when the giver leaves.
Astair, watching her somewhat erratic behavior, said, "Are you really insane, human?"
Qiao Xiao: "Sir, look at these desserts."
He glanced sideways at the food that appeared in front of her. "Human food is always so smelly."
Upon hearing this, Qiao Xiao's face darkened immediately: "My lord, that's why it proves you're not human."
Asdor: "Of course, how could I be such a lowly race?" He raised an eyebrow and asked, "So, you're crying because of this sweet, boring stuff?"
Qiao Xiao: "Yes, these are all my favorites, but it's a pity I can't keep them. I can't help but feel sad."
Asdor: "So fragile."
Qiao Xiao: "Yes, humans are creatures that know they can't resist but still resist."
She squinted, her gaze following Asdor. Asdor looked at her with a puzzled expression, unable to discern her thoughts, or rather, she had no thoughts at all.
In the brief silence between the two, a snowflake drifted down unexpectedly, slowly foreshadowing a heavy snowfall.
Soon, snow covered the mountain edges, casting a thin, transparent veil over the once-smooth mountain range.
Qiao Xiao touched a snowflake with her fingertip, then suddenly smiled, "My lord, happy birthday!"
Asdor: "Birthday?"
His face was full of confusion, as if he didn't understand what Qiao Xiao was talking about.
Qiao Xiao suddenly exclaimed excitedly, "Congratulations on the birth of Your Excellency in this world today!" She clapped her hands vigorously.
Astor frowned slightly, seemingly trying to understand Qiao Xiao's words. He gazed at the swirling snowflakes and said lightly, "My birth was a disaster, Princess. No one celebrates a disaster."
Qiao Xiao gently scooped up some snowflakes and tossed them into the air, feeling the cold snowflakes fall on her cheeks. "Let's go for a walk, sir."
Astor himself is unwilling to do such boring and meaningless things, but today is a special day, so he will make an exception.
The two walked silently along the snowy road.
"Adults are not a disaster in my eyes."
Asdor gazed at her, a touch of emotion welling up within him, but it was quickly masked by indifference.
"Why?" he asked casually.
“Because you came into my life,” Qiao Xiao replied softly. “Even a disaster has a unique meaning.”
Snowflakes fell gently, as if witnessing this special conversation. Asdor silently watched Qiao Xiao, and the ice deep within his heart seemed to melt slightly.
“Perhaps you are right,” he murmured to himself.
In the stillness of the snowy night, the two figures walked further and further away, leaving behind a trail of footprints, some deep and some shallow...
In this silent, snowy landscape, Qiao Xiao and Asdor's figures appeared exceptionally small and lonely.
