Chapter 199 Rescue
Chapter 199 Rescue
"You're here!"
In an instant, Zhong Huanli teleported from a distance to Zhang Lingwan's side, and then delivered a spinning kick, knocking Zhang Lingwan heavily to the ground.
"Did you do these inhumane things?!" Zhong Huanli roared, her eyes flashing with ferocity as she stared at Zhang Lingwan, who was coughing up blood in agony on the ground. "Tell me, where are Xiaoxiao and the others?"
Zhang Lingwan gasped, "Let me go, and I'll tell you."
Zhong Huanli's eyes darkened as she approached Zhang Lingwan and said in a low voice, "I was too hasty. Even if you hadn't told me, I would have found a way to locate them."
He sensed Asdor's presence, and Zhong Huanli no longer hesitated, turning around and leaving Zhang Lingwan.
Zhang Lingwan witnessed the moment he disappeared, and was so terrified that she stood frozen in place.
Following the scent, Zhong Huanli arrived at a basement. The basement was filled with makeshift shacks, which reeked of a nauseating bloody stench, sending a chill down Zhong Huanli's spine.
He walked through the shacks and came to a relatively tidy corner. Zhong Huanli hesitated because the Asdor smell there was unusually strong.
Suddenly, the sound of chains rattling came from behind.
Zhong Huanli immediately pinpointed the source of the sound.
"Xiaoxiao!" he called out urgently.
“Ah…” a faint voice came.
"Drip, drip," the blood slowly flowed down the cracks in the ground.
A woman with disheveled hair was tightly bound by four chains, her limbs rubbing against each other until they bled. Her frail body looked as if a gust of wind could kill her. Her entire face was completely hidden under her hair. The light was dim, and her face was not clearly visible. It seemed as if her face was a bottomless black hole. She kept repeating a few words.
“A...S...Do...Er...A...S...Do...Er…”
Zhong Huanli rushed forward and unlocked her chains. The weak woman immediately threw herself into his arms, crying, "Xiaoxiao, brother has come to save you."
"Brother?" Qiao Xiao asked in a hoarse voice.
She slowly raised her head, trembling as she asked again, "Is it really my brother?" With all her might, she raised her hand and stroked the face she had longed for day and night.
Upon confirming it, she could no longer control her emotions and burst into tears.
Suddenly, she remembered something and cried out, "Brother! Asdor, go save it!" Perhaps due to excessive emotion, Qiao Xiao fainted after saying that.
He held the unconscious Qiao Xiao in his arms and stood in front of a door. Behind this door, Astor would definitely be.
Zhong Huanli opened the door with a sorrowful expression, for the overwhelming smell of blood meant he was already dead.
The door was slowly opened wide, and the brightest spot in the dark basement was blindingly lit like an exposure lamp.
What came into view was a raw black hide, like a hunter's trophy. The pure black dog hide was nailed to the wall with countless nails, and bright red blood flowed beneath it. Numerous knife marks pierced through the fur. It was hard to imagine what Asdor had gone through in his life.
"Aster, soul from another world, I..."
Zhong Huanli kept chanting incantations, and soon, Asdor's physical body was reshaped and lay on the ground.
"Zhong Huanli, Commander of the Universe, you have finally appeared. We have been waiting for you for a long time." A soul, in the form of a black dragon, was speaking to Zhong Huanli.
The black dragon came to Qiao Xiao's side, its dark eyes scrutinizing the human who had gone through so much hardship with it.
“Aster, you have suffered…” Zhong Huanli looked bitterly at the ancient dragon.
"I am the ruler of this other world. The harm that human did to me was insignificant. But I never thought that one day I would die from a small blade."
"I will send you back to another world, back there, and nothing about you will change."
Asdor exhaled a deep dragon breath and said, "Things have changed. I am utterly incompetent. Zhong Huanli, I have always been proud of my magic, but I was so ignorant that I forgot it was an innate talent. Without a powerful body, I am like an ant."
“She is a miracle.” Asdor circled around Qiao Xiao, “She fought for my life with her weakest body.”
Zhong Huanli looked at the sleeping Qiao Xiao with heartache and said in a hoarse voice, "She has too many injuries..."
Astor nodded solemnly, “I have lived for too long and witnessed too much cause and effect, but I just can’t see through Qiao Xiao’s fate. She is clearly a child of destiny, so why does the heavens not bless her? Time and time again, they are killing her way to live.”
Zhong Huanli: "It's the world's fault, and the world should disappear."
"Disappear? Even the dragon race, which possesses the power to destroy the world, does not have the absolute magic to obliterate a world forever. Existence is indestructible."
Zhong Huanli's eyes darkened as he said, "Your aura is unstable. We should send you back. Otherwise, the damage to your soul will consume hundreds of years of your magic power to repair it. In this other world, the strong prey on the weak. Don't take that risk."
Immediately afterwards, a beam of red light flashed and took away Astor's soul.
"Take good care of Qiao Xiao." He left these words behind, along with a white fluid.
The fluid floats in the air, revealing scenes unknown to Zhong Huanli.
"Xiao Xiao is in the hospital, and Huan Li is nowhere to be found. What should I do, Wan Wan?" Zhong Yan cried, holding his wife's portrait.
He was on the verge of collapse. Xiao Xiao had been bullied, disfigured, and blinded, and was still lying in the emergency room. Huan Li had suddenly disappeared, and the Lu family was threatening him.
Asdor walked over and called out to him.
Zhong Yan looked at it and asked, "Do you miss your master, Asdor?" A sense of comfort welled up in his heart. "Don't worry, it's not a hopeless situation yet. Xiao Xiao is still waiting for me to take care of her in the hospital. I will not compromise with the Lu family."
At that moment, the doorbell rang, and Zhong Yan went to open the door.
Zhong Yan: "Chen Zheng, you're here. I've prepared all the materials..."
Chen Zheng: "Okay, let me see it."
The two walked and talked as they headed toward the study. Asdor vaguely heard words like "journalist," "case," and "court."
A few days later, Qiao Xiao was discharged from the hospital in a wheelchair, her face wrapped in bandages.
Qiao Xiao: "I want to go to my brother's room."
Zhong Yan didn't say much, and helped Qiao Xiao upstairs. Asdor quietly followed, peeking into the room, where he saw Qiao Xiao sitting on the edge of the bed in a daze.
“Is that Asdor? I heard your footsteps,” Qiao Xiao said.
Asdor took a few steps forward, but Qiao Xiao did not shoo it away. After looking around, it lay down at Qiao Xiao's feet.
During that period, Chen Zheng visited frequently. One day, he anxiously sought out Zhong Yan to discuss something.
Chen Zheng: "The press conference was canceled at the last minute."
Zhong Yan: "They wield immense power, so we have no choice but to file a lawsuit."
The two went to the study and prepared materials together. That evening, a torrential downpour began outside.
