The Rebirth of a Farm Girl from a Military Family and a Cannon Fodder Princess

Chapter 31 Understanding

Chapter 31 Understanding

The daily mountain climbing exercise was something Zisu and Aunt Yao had agreed upon beforehand; it was the first step in learning martial arts. They would first build up their strength and endurance through mountain climbing, establishing a solid foundation before beginning to learn martial arts from Aunt Yao.

Zisu took several maids to climb the mountain, while Aunt Yao stayed at home to protect Madam Yu and taught Grandma and Aunt Li a few simple self-defense moves, telling them which part of the body hurts the most and is most effective when hitting someone.

Grandma was nearly fifty, and Aunt Li was in her forties; both were quite old. However, having experienced so much hardship, they both deeply understood the importance of self-defense and studied very diligently. Their only weapon was a wooden stick, and Aunt Yao only taught them two moves before making them practice for an hour every day.

A month later, once Zisu and the other maids had developed sufficient stamina and physical strength, Aunt Yao began teaching them martial arts. The focus was on Zisu, who received frequent private lessons, and Aunt Yao practically taught her everything she knew. Zisu and the other maids cherished this opportunity and studied with exceptional diligence and effort.

For the past six months, Zisu has been busy practicing martial arts and talking with her mother to soothe her emotions. Apart from delivering gifts to the clan chief and elders during festivals, she rarely goes out in the village.

Before we knew it, the New Year had passed, winter had gone and spring had come. Madam Yu gave birth to a son safely, whom she named Shangguan Yi.

Overjoyed, Madam Yu wept tears of joy, thinking to herself, "This is wonderful! My husband finally has an heir. Even when he goes to the underworld, he will have the face to see him!" The Shangguan family was so vicious that she and her son almost met with their wrath. If she hadn't saved this child, she would have had no face to see the child's father.

However, she dared not say these words aloud, fearing that Zisu would be angry. Ever since the child woke up from that injury, she had become increasingly headstrong and had a strong dislike for those clansmen who favored sons over daughters.

Sigh, my daughter is becoming more confident and strong, which is a good thing. However, every time she mentions letting her daughter see more, Zisu gets very unhappy. If pressed, she might even glare at her or simply walk away.

Zisu was also very distressed, having dreamt of a world where men and women were equal.

The things her mother said made her extremely disgusted. Her mother always seized every opportunity to lecture her incessantly, which also made her very unhappy.

Having been given a second chance at life, even without dreaming of the future world, she would still consider its essence as worthless. Having been reborn, she intends to live more freely and no longer suffer so much!

As for her mother, she's been poisoned. She shouldn't hold a grudge against her anymore. At most, she should just let it go in one ear and out the other! Her mother is only doing it for her own good; for that reason, she should just bear with it!

Alas, there's nothing that can be done; life can't always be smooth sailing.

When she's feeling down, Zisu goes hiking or practices martial arts. After venting her frustrations, she always feels much better.

In the blink of an eye, my younger brother Yi-ge'er has turned one month old.

After the full moon celebration, Aunt Yao took her leave.

With the arrival of spring, Mother can move around freely again, so Zisu plans to hire someone to cultivate the huge courtyard and plant vegetables, fruits, and flowers.
