Chapter 2 Fever
Chapter 2 Fever
Yunyi rushed out and saw a little boy lying on the ground with a flushed face, and Xia Songshi lying not far away.
The other little ones didn't know who to look after, and they all started crying together.
"Don't cry," Yunyi said, first checking on Liubao. "He has a fever, Dabao. Take him inside." Then she checked on Xia Songshi and found that she had fainted due to weakness and anxiety, but there was no danger to her life. She then bent down, picked her up, and put her back inside.
There were three thatched huts in total: two bedrooms and one main room. The original owner occupied the best one, while Xia Songshi lived in the other one with her seven children.
At least Yunyi's room had a wooden plank, while Xia Songshi's room simply had straw laid on the floor with a dark quilt on top, saving the trouble of a wooden plank.
Da Bao also brought Liu Bao in and placed him next to Xia Song Shi.
"Go and call Grandpa Wang," Yunyi instructed Dabao. "Erya and Sanya, go and boil some hot water. Sibao, take good care of your younger siblings." Because she had the original owner's memories, she was no longer completely ignorant.
The kids exchanged glances, then ran off on their own.
Si Bao then pulled his younger siblings aside to avoid them getting in the way.
"Fourth Brother, will...will Sixth Brother...die?" Qi Bao asked Si Bao in a low, choked voice, her lips trembling. Her voice was still a little childish and she couldn't quite speak properly.
"I won't die. If Liubao and Grandma die, I'll smash that poisonous woman's head with a brick..." Five-year-old Wuya clenched her little fist and said some very fierce words in her childish voice.
Qibao's tears started falling again.
Si Bao clenched his fist. He would use a brick to hit the poisonous woman instead of his sister, who was a girl and not strong enough.
Yun Yi sighed. It was fine that the rascal Sixteen was gone, but it was such a pity that the hundreds of millions of resources she had accumulated through her journeys through three thousand worlds were also gone. In the current situation, even if she couldn't be given Western medicine, she could at least be given a set of silver needles. Her acupuncture skills were not low. After all, she had been a divine doctor two hundred times in the missions, not including the worlds where she was an apprentice and a medicine boy.
Soon, an elderly man with gray hair was led in by Da Bao, followed by a thin little girl.
The old man is Wang Tianshun, the village doctor. It is said that he used to be from the capital and his medical skills are extremely high. The locals call him Doctor Wang. It is just a mystery why a doctor from a big city would come to such a desolate place to be a village doctor.
The old man glared at Yun Yi first, then went over to examine Liu Bao and Xia Songshi, giving them both acupuncture. He then wrote out two prescriptions and handed them directly to the little maid who had come with him: "Qiao'er, go back and get the medicine and bring it here."
Under the influence of acupuncture, Xia Songshi quickly woke up. Upon seeing Wang Tianshun, she immediately tugged at the corner of her mouth and said, "Dr. Wang, thank you for your trouble again."
"Sigh." Wang Tianshun sighed, "What do you mean by troublesome? If it weren't for Tianyin, Qiao'er would have been gone when the floods came last year."
Two years ago, a flash flood occurred here, and Wang Qiao'er was swept away by the flood. Xia Tianyin jumped down without regard for the danger and pulled her to safety.
"Sigh, I won't say anymore." Xia Songshi nodded timidly.
“You still have to…” Wang Tianshun glanced at Yunyi beside him, “You have to stand up for yourself. If something happens to you, how will those children survive?”
Xia Songshi gave a bitter smile. She also wanted to stand up, but she couldn't beat this woman. If she had known it would be like this, she shouldn't have been soft-hearted in the first place. She had spent money to bring back an ancestor.
Yunyi could guess what Xia Songshi was thinking, but there was nothing she could do. She had inherited the original owner's body, so she could only take the blame and then slowly clear her name. She turned and went into the kitchen.
Er Ya and San Ya were boiling water when they saw Yun Yi come in. They trembled in fright, but both girls instinctively grabbed a piece of firewood and stared at her with bloodshot eyes, looking as if they wanted to fight her to the death at any moment.
Yunyi sighed inwardly. The original owner of this body disliked Sanya for being a cripple, and not only scolded her but also hit her. Erya protected her sister and fought with the original owner. Although the little girl was fierce enough, she was only seven years old after all, and how could she beat the original owner? The original owner stabbed her in the thigh with a fire poker with flames, and she almost died from the infection of the wound. It was Old Man Wang who saved her, but a large scar the size of a palm was left on her thigh.
Therefore, the sisters' reactions were perfectly normal.
Yunyi didn't speak or look at them. Instead, she went over and ladled hot water into a bowl, then stirred it between the two bowls until it was no longer hot before taking it away.
Er Ya and San Ya visibly breathed a sigh of relief.
Sanya tugged at Erya's sleeve: "Second sister, she's not angry anymore."
"Hmm." Er Ya nodded. "However, it's probably because Grandpa Wang is here. We still need to be careful. After all, a leopard can't change its spots."
Sanya nodded.
Yunyi's soul power did not disappear completely after she changed bodies, so to these ordinary people, she was like version 2.0. Her five senses were more acute than ordinary people, comparable to a martial arts master. Therefore, she could hear the two little girls' whispers in the kitchen clearly. It was indeed a bit helpless, but there was nothing she could do. She would take it slowly. After entering the house, she helped Xia Songshi up: "Mother, have some water first."
She was used to calling a strange woman "mother," after all, in the mission world, she had been someone's mother countless times, and others had been her mother countless times.
Wang Tianshun finally couldn't help but soften his expression.
Xia Songshi was somewhat flattered. She knew that when her son was alive, he used to call her "Mother," but after he disappeared, he started calling her "Hey" or "You old hag." But she couldn't say anything at this moment, so she stiffly drank a couple of sips of water, which made her feel much better.
Yunyi helped her lie down, thinking that she would have to make something to eat later.
Just then, Wang Qiao'er returned carrying two medicine packets in one hand and a small basket in the other: "Grandpa, here." After handing the medicine packets to Wang Tianshun, she glanced at Yunyi, opened the basket, took out a flatbread, broke it in half, and handed it to Xia Songshi: "Grandma Xia, have some to tide you over, you'll need to take your medicine later."
“This…this won’t do.” Xia Songshi hurriedly shook her head. “You don’t have much food rations either. If you give us so much, what will you eat?”
"Eat up." Wang Tianshun nodded. "Your stomach is empty, you can't withstand the effects of the medicine. Don't be embarrassed, the seven children are counting on you. We have food at home, don't worry."
