Chapter 302 - 245: Accusations Require Evidence
"I can pay my own way. I’ll cover my own expenses. When were you thinking of leaving?" Lin Li thought for a moment and decided to go to Qiong City with Su Yue for a few days.
After Su Yue got a definite "yes" from Lin Li, her radiant smile became even more captivating. She couldn’t hide her delight.
"I’ll book the hotel and plane tickets right now. We’ll leave for Qiong City tomorrow morning."
"Tomorrow morning? That’s so soon?" Lin Li had figured Su Yue would want to wait a few days before heading to Qiong City. He never expected her to suggest leaving as early as tomorrow morning.
"Well, there aren’t many days left of summer vacation. If we wait a few days to go to Qiong City, it’ll be too close to the start of the school year.
And if the trip is too close to when school starts, I’ll feel rushed. So, it’s better if we leave early and come back early," Su Yue explained.
"Oh, I see. Alright, then. You book the hotel and flights. Just let me know the total when you’re done, and I’ll transfer you the money..."
Since Lin Li was just planning to accompany Su Yue to Qiong City for a few days, he didn’t really care when they left.
Su Yue then picked up her phone and started booking the flights and hotel online.
After booking the flights, she found a few hotels but couldn’t immediately make a decision. So, she turned, held her phone out to Lin Li, and asked.
"Lin Li, I think all of these hotels look pretty good. Take a look. Which one should we stay at?"
Lin Li, who was scrolling through short videos, looked up and glanced at the hotels on Su Yue’s phone. "Any of them are fine with me," he said. "You can just decide."
"Come on, give me some input!"
"Uh... alright. Let’s just pick the first one. I see it has a lot of reviews, so it must be pretty good if that many people commented on it."
"..." Su Yue rolled her eyes after hearing his reasoning. "Honestly! More reviews don’t necessarily mean it’s good. Don’t you know some businesses pay people to write fake reviews these days?
Look, this third one on the list doesn’t have a lot of reviews, but they all seem pretty genuine. Let’s just pick this one!"
’This woman... She clearly already had a decision in mind, yet she still insisted on asking for my opinion. Wasn’t that just pointless?’
Lin Li grumbled inwardly about Su Yue, then nodded, agreeing to book the hotel she’d picked.
Su Yue cheerfully booked the hotel, after which Lin Li asked about the total cost.
"It’s not much money. Since I’m the one who invited you to Qiong City, consider it my treat!" Su Yue said with a cheerful laugh.
"Don’t say that. I glanced at the price for that hotel—it’s several hundred for a single night! Add in the flights, and the total comes out to a lot of money." Lin Li shook his head, insisting that he had to pay.
When Su Yue saw Lin Li insisting on paying, she just smiled and said.
"Alright, then! The round-trip flights and the hotel fees come to a total of four thousand and seventy-five. Don’t worry about the odd seventy-five, just send me an even four thousand."
"Four thousand?" Lin Li was stunned when he heard the price. "After you subtract the cost of the flights, the rest is all for the hotel. Just how many days did you book?" he asked.
"I booked it for five days."
"Uh..."
Lin Li had figured that going to Qiong City with Su Yue would be a three-day trip at most. He never imagined she planned for them to stay for five days.
"What’s wrong?" Seeing Lin Li staring at her in silence, Su Yue said with a grin, "You think five days is too short? I can add a few more!"
"No, it’s not that. I was just wondering if five days might be too long.
What if we get bored after two or three days in Qiong City? It won’t be easy to get a refund for the remaining days, and it’ll be a waste," Lin Li said, shaking his head.
"Don’t worry! Qiong City is a huge tourist destination with plenty of things to do. If anything, five days will be too short, not too long. I’m worried we’ll run out of time to see everything!" Su Yue said with a laugh.
"If it’s not enough, we can just extend it then. Let’s stick with this for now."
"Alright, this works for now."
Lin Li transferred the four thousand to Su Yue, then saw her pick up a small packet of dried fish from the snack plate on the coffee table.
Just then, he suddenly remembered the spicy gluten strips from yesterday that had been so hot they made him break out in a sweat.
"Su Yue, that brand of spicy gluten strips you recommended to me before really kicked my butt."
Su Yue, who was about to open the package and grab a dried fish, paused at his words. She grinned and said, "Oh, that? I thought it was fine!"
Lin Li caught a mischievous glint in Su Yue’s smile. Then, it finally dawned on him.
’Wow. This woman knew all along that those spicy strips would be way too hot for me. She recommended them just to mess with me.’
"Hee hee hee... My bad. When I recommended it, I forgot that your spice tolerance is much lower than mine."
Su Yue, having successfully pranked Lin Li, let out a series of giggles. Deciding to quit while she was ahead, she quickly apologized.
Now that Su Yue had apologized, what more could Lin Li say?
Su Yue wasn’t lying about one thing, though. The brand of spicy gluten strips she recommended was, in fact, incredibly tasty.
It may have been brutally spicy, but the aftertaste was incredible. Lin Li figured he would probably buy the brand Su Yue recommended again in the future.
