Chapter 435 - 92: Volley Shot! Suppressing Liverpool! That Bizarre Curve
The Dortmund players also came running out, surrounding and hugging Wang Shuo.
In front of the home team’s dugout, Klopp once again unleashed his signature "Farmer’s Three Punches" celebration.
He threw them again and again, even more animated than usual.
"Since the match began, Dortmund has been on a relentless offensive."
"Liverpool, on the other hand, has yet to even take a single shot."
"In fact, the Red Army hasn’t managed to get the ball inside Dortmund’s penalty area at all."
"It must be said, this is a truly unexpected turn of events."
"Before the game, everyone expected this to be a closely contested match, at the very least."
"But now that the match is underway, Dortmund has demonstrated astonishing combativeness!"
"Just as Wang Shuo said before the match, they’re playing their signature style of football—full of passion and offensive desire—and relentlessly attacking Liverpool’s goal."
...
After Wang Shuo’s successful free kick, Liverpool finally made their way into Dortmund’s penalty area.
That’s right. In the 16th minute, Liverpool sent the ball toward Weidenfeller for the very first time.
It came from a Throw-In.
Kuyt, playing in his preferred right-wing position, used his body to muscle past Schmelzer before sending in a cross from the byline.
However, before Gerrard could get into position in the center to receive it, Weidenfeller came out to the edge of the six-yard box and easily plucked the ball from the air.
This was a first for Liverpool!
But Dortmund was quick to answer.
In the 18th minute, another Dortmund attack from upfield penetrated Liverpool’s penalty area, forcing a hasty clearance out of bounds.
A Throw-In.
After Schmelzer’s Throw-In, Dortmund kept up the offensive pressure.
This time, however, as Wang Shuo received the ball inside the box with his back to the goal, shielding it from Kalg, Daniel Agger swooped in from the side and cleared it away.
The ball didn’t travel far, though.
Sven Bender collected the ball around the 30-meter mark, passed it to Shahin, who then relayed it to Götze.
As the ball was cleared from the box, Wang Shuo immediately tracked back out of the penalty area to avoid being offside.
Liverpool’s entire backline pushed up in response.
Just as everyone was moving out of the penalty area, Shahin passed to Götze.
In that same instant, Wang Shuo spun around.
Götze met Shahin’s pass not with a trap, but with a first-time chip over the top, sending the ball behind the defensive line.
Wang Shuo made a quick run forward, bursting past Daniel Agger and into the penalty area.
The timing was perfect. He wasn’t offside!
The ball bounced once after landing.
Wang Shuo arrived at full speed, planted his left foot, and swung his right, meeting the ball with a powerful volley.
Goalkeeper Reina had already charged out of his six-yard box and was lunging toward Wang Shuo.
But Wang Shuo’s shot was aimed at the near post.
Reina didn’t even have time for a proper dive; he could only throw his hands up in a desperate attempt to block it.
But there would be no lucky save.
He couldn’t get a touch on it.
The ball practically scraped the right post as it flew into the Liverpool net once more.
"GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!"
"It’s another goal!!!!"
"The 18th minute! Just three minutes after the last goal, Dortmund have scored again!"
"And it’s another goal from Wang Shuo!"
"An absolutely brilliant volley!"
This time, Wang Shuo didn’t even run off the field. He simply turned and held his arms out for Götze, who was sprinting toward him.
The other Dortmund players rushed over, mobbing him in the center.
Meanwhile, the Liverpool players hung their heads, looking utterly dejected.
Eighteen minutes in!
And they still hadn’t managed a single shot on goal!
They’d only managed to get the ball into Dortmund’s penalty area once, and it posed no threat whatsoever.
Meanwhile, Dortmund had scored two goals in the span of just four minutes!
...
"See, Sis? Now do you believe what I told you?"
In the Dortmund supporters’ section at Northern Bank Stadium, Shen Qinghe spoke to a Chinese woman in her thirties beside her.
Her smile, combined with the undisguised pride in her voice, surprised the woman, who had known her for many years.
"He’s definitely going to surpass Giant Yao and Flying Liu to become a phenomenal athlete!"
The other woman nodded again and again, thoroughly impressed.
In truth, she didn’t understand football, but she could still tell that Wang Shuo was playing exceptionally well.
"So, is that why you’re working for him?"
The woman looked at Shen Qinghe with keen interest, as if she could read her mind.
"I... I don’t want to keep asking my dad for money. I need to earn it myself."
"Oh, really? The last time I was back in China, Uncle Shen told me your personal shopping business is doing great. You’ve opened companies at home and abroad, and it’s gotten pretty big. You’re still short on cash?"
Shen Qinghe, having been hit where she was vulnerable, felt a little flustered and quickly changed the subject.
"Never mind that, Sis. You’re the one who told me you’re unhappy at the Swatch Group and that you want to move back to China because you and your husband are living in different places. I’m just trying to help you figure something out, aren’t I?"
Shen Qinghe’s tone shifted. "Think about it," she continued, "It’s a perfect match for your expertise. You’re in brand marketing, and you’ve been at a luxury goods corporation like the Swatch Group for years. You have the experience, the connections, everything. Isn’t it a perfect fit?"
"Besides, your husband is doing so well at that influential party newspaper, so it’s not like he’s lacking for connections and resources..."
"Wait a minute!" The woman finally caught on. "You little brat! It’s one thing for you to rope me into your schemes, but you’re trying to use my husband too? And all for *him*?"
