Chapter 706 - 618: Much Ado About Nothing (3)
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Under the night sky, a series of explosions echoed from nearby below, the flames flickering. A few figures stood high above, gazing down at the scene below.
A swarm of drones and several light armored vehicles chased a Blade as it shuttled through the district. An armed helicopter hovered in the air closely behind the Blade, while two small ’Black Original Wolf’ Titans burst out from the flanks, overturning the abandoned vehicles blocking the way, sending debris flying all around.
"At this moment, why would someone try to break through Mu Yaoyin’s blockade?" Yu Lan frowned.
"Currently, the control of the Revolutionary Army is in the hands of Dark Gold Rose. Without her orders, the army wouldn’t create such a big commotion," someone replied.
"Not sure, let’s follow and see." Lu Shuhang said.
The four of them immediately moved, chasing after the Blade.
Inside the Blade, a violent explosion roared nearby. Qi covered his ears, while Ming looked grim, tightly gripping the steering wheel, sharply turning, the Blade’s front end swerved into another street, avoiding the missile barrage.
At this moment, a rapidly running automatic soldier appeared on both sides of the Blade, smashing the car window with a fierce punch, reaching towards the girl inside.
Startled, Qi shrank back, hurriedly grabbing an electromagnetic pistol and jamming it into the automatic soldier’s mouth. As the energy charged, the projectile blasted out, shattering half of the soldier’s head.
Feeling the warm liquid splatter on his face, Qi was momentarily dazed, but seeing the now lifeless automatic soldier hanging from the window, the girl, who had never even cut fruit before, felt excitement and thrill rather than fear.
Just as she turned her head, waving her hands with the gun towards Ming, she saw the young man sharply turn, and the automatic soldier hanging on the window suddenly moved again, a red light flashing in its eyes, lunging forward.
Qi quickly reached out, pushing against the automatic soldier’s head, preventing the menacing biting mouth from approaching.
"Don’t aim for the head, this guy isn’t a Bionic, its power is in the core." Ming reminded, then sharply turned the steering wheel, the Blade skimming close to the railing, the automatic soldier rubbing violently against it, sparks flying.
Qi nodded vigorously, swallowed hard, and once again aimed the gun at the core in the automatic soldier’s chest, shooting to finish it.
"How does it feel?" Ming finally maneuvered the Blade to the left flank, tossing the automatic soldier to the rear.
"Pretty fun," Qi replied.
The girl exhaled a long breath, her hand trembled as she tucked the strands of hair falling on her forehead behind her ear.
"Didn’t feel it quite enough, it’d be great to try again," she said.
Ming raised an eyebrow, and just then, several more automatic soldiers came rushing, with one leaping onto the rear bumper, and the other two climbing onto the body, quickly reaching the roof, mechanical arms transformed into blades raised high.
Qi and Ming noticed this through the rearview mirror, Qi immediately went cold: "Take back what I said."
"Hold on tight."
Ming said, sharply turning the steering wheel. The Blade started swaying uncontrollably on the road, the automatic soldier on top lost balance and fell, the blade sliced through the roof like cutting through butter, narrowly grazing the girl’s face.
In a state of sheer terror, Qi aimed at the head of the intruding automatic soldier and fired multiple shots.
Inside the cabin, the fire flashed wildly. Ming couldn’t help but remind, "Aim for the chest, the core is in the chest..."
Before he could finish, the automatic soldier’s head was completely smashed, unable to maintain balance, it was tossed to the rear in disarray.
"Take back what I said."
"I remember this type of automatic soldier’s mechanical structure, its balance module is in the head." Qi said, still in shock, not knowing whether out of fear or instinctively, repeated the phrase with a teary voice, sitting in her seat.
"I found something good too, wanna see?"
Saying that, Qi took out a piece from the automatic soldier’s head she had just removed, a completely black module marked with ’made in Jiulong’ lettering.
"This is... a synchronous generator?" Ming said.
"We can use this to send signals to the Firefly, if they know the black box is with us, they’ll definitely come..." Qi said.
"We’re still in the blockade zone at the moment, all specific frequency communication signals are blocked." Ming said.
"Unless you can somehow adjust to a specific frequency, truly compile that frequency’s language, and use brainwaves to make others understand, otherwise, no one can grasp what you’re conveying."
"Are you stupid?" Qi still somewhat dazed, said.
Ming froze, although he’s average, he’s still considered a genius amongst the average, it was the first time anyone had questioned if he was ’stupid’ since childhood.
Seeing Ming actually starting to ponder over this, Qi couldn’t help but laugh, her voice trembling with a teary tone, yet her expression was much calmer.
"You’re overcomplicating it."
"There’s a universal language often seen in movies."
Saying that, Qi began to act, kicking open the panel in front of her seat, connecting the synchronous generator to the car’s electrical system.
"It’s not that difficult, just need a super bright bulb to send our message in Morse code for others outside to see it."
"Don’t forget, the shield generator, when activated it’s very bright." Qi mumbled to herself, her hands moving faster and faster.
"I estimate, it’ll be enough to express our message before burning out."
Using the shield generator as a super bright bulb, if the girl hadn’t brought it up, Ming would probably never have thought of this angle in his lifetime.
He began to appreciate the girl’s thinking process.
Several more automatic soldiers appeared outside the car window...
In the distance, the Assassin’s Creed group continued to observe the chase, noticing how the Blade always managed to find the best evasive angle, dodging the bombardment.
"This guy’s driving skill is pretty good," Zhou Zhao, holding binoculars, sighed.
"No, his driving skills are terrible," Four-leaf Phoenix Tree countered.
"I even suspect, did this guy just glance at the manual and start driving? Can he even tell if you’re supposed to shift before stepping on the clutch, the way he’s driving, this Blade will be scrapped once it stops."
"It’s just because he’s able to find the best angle that allows the Blade to keep running until now."
"Wait, look, is that Blade glowing?" Yu Lan suddenly said.
"One flash... two flashes, three flashes?"
In Yu Lan’s sight, the Blade was currently crawling with automatic soldiers, like a disease-ridden leopard, emitting bursts of blue light through the gaps as it struggled towards Mu Yaoyin’s blockade line.
"Was the shield generator damaged, unable to activate?" Zhou Zhao scratched his head.
"The frequency of the flashing blue light is different," Four-leaf Phoenix Tree gradually noticed something.
"Hey hey hey, this guy, could he be using the shield generator to send Morse code?" Zhou Zhao finally realized.
Lu Shuhang’s eyes lit up, quickly deciphering the message the Blade wanted to convey.
"It says, the real black box is on this car."
