Chapter 930 Mysterious Man!
Chapter 930 Mysterious Man!
"Fourth Sister-in-law, please don't change the subject. Don't worry about whether my information is accurate or not, just tell me, are you going to give me this or not?"
Mu Xin Nuan chuckled and turned to look at Madam Chu. "You see? Your good daughter-in-law is openly threatening me!" She then turned back to her. "Here! My good sister has spoken, how can I refuse?"
Duanmu Jing pouted in anger. She was actually older than Mu Xin Nuan, but Mu Xin Nuan had married her brother and could call her "sister," which was what made Duanmu Jing most unhappy.
"Alright, I know what you're thinking again. Aunt Fang, in a little while, take Princess Jing to the storeroom in person and have her pick out something carefully. Also, tell the Imperial Household Department that it's my will, and that whatever the princess likes, she can choose."
"Yes, ma'am."
Duanmu Jing's eyes lit up. "Is what Fourth Sister-in-law said true?"
"Look at you, when have I ever lied to you? Besides, you are the Emperor's only sister, of course you should be pampered. Otherwise, if you were unhappy and ran back to the Empress Dowager to cry, wouldn't I be committing a great sin?"
"Fourth Sister-in-law!" Duanmu Jing called out somewhat shyly, which drew laughter from the ladies.
Just then, Princess Zhaoyang entered.
"Actually, Fourth Sister-in-law, you don't need to go to so much trouble. Just give me the pair of precious square vases that I had my eye on before. I don't need the others."
"You're not greedy at all! That thing is your fourth brother's favorite. Fine, since you've brought it up, I'll do the Emperor's bidding and give you that pair of vases."
After Mu Xin Nuan finished speaking, she turned to look at Aunt Fang and said, "Go and deliver the things directly to the Chu residence. Also, select a pair of good double-sided embroidery of each size that was just sent from Jiangnan and send them to Princess Jing."
"Yes, ma'am."
Duanmu Jing was delighted. "Fourth Sister-in-law really loves me."
"If I don't give you anything, will the pain stop?"
"How could that be? Whether Fourth Sister-in-law gives me something or not, she loves me the most."
Mu Xin Nuan turned her head away and ignored her. "Madam Chu, you see? Our Princess Jing, even though she's a mother, still has the heart of a child."
Madam Chu smiled and said, "Your Majesty is right. The princess is lively and lovely. It would be too quiet in the manor without her."
"Jing'er, did you feel good when you heard your mother-in-law praise you?"
While they were chatting animatedly, Princess Zhaoyang had no interest in listening carefully.
I just felt that Mu Xin Nuan's methods of winning people over were nothing more than this.
Isn't she just trying to win people over with gifts? If she hadn't married into the royal family, how could she have the right to decide these things? Besides, she and Duanmu Jing are both legitimate royal princesses, so why should they receive such favors from her for no reason?
Why do I feel like I'm a step below her?
Zhao Yang glared at Duanmu Jing. Why couldn't this brat uphold her dignity as a princess?
After the palace banquet ended, Princess Zhaoyang returned to her residence in a huff.
Prince Consort Luo had not yet returned to the mansion, and Princess Zhaoyang was throwing a tantrum alone in the courtyard.
I thought this was a brilliant plan, but I never expected that even someone like Duanmu Jing could see through it.
Was it because I played this game terribly, or was I already being watched by someone?
Thinking about it this way, Princess Zhaoyang felt a chill run down her spine.
If that's really the case, then wouldn't my every move be under the surveillance of others?
Princess Zhaoyang subconsciously looked up and around, feeling as if the courtyard she was once extremely familiar with was now filled with murderous intent, cold and terrifying.
"Princess, are you okay?"
Princess Zhaoyang turned around abruptly, the sinister look in her eyes startling the old nanny who had spoken to her. "Princess, what's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?"
Zhao Yang pursed her lips tightly, and after a long while, she finally spat out a sentence with a fierce tone, "It's nothing, you may all leave. I want to be alone for a while."
"Yes, Princess." The nanny understood, her eyes flickering slightly, knowing that the princess was about to enter the secret chamber again.
"You may all leave. There is no need for service here. If the prince consort returns, report to me immediately."
"Yes, Mammy."
There were guards at the entrance to the courtyard and at the entrance to the house.
Princess Zhaoyang returned to her bedroom and carefully manipulated a small mechanism. A very narrow door appeared on the wall next to her bed.
Zhao Yang glanced around carefully before entering the secret room.
The secret room was not empty after all.
Just like above, downstairs there are bedrooms, studies, bathrooms, and even a small greenhouse.
Princess Zhaoyang looked around but couldn't see anyone, and couldn't help but get annoyed. "Where is he?"
A young maidservant came over and greeted the princess.
"Where's the young master?"
"Your Highness, the young master just went to the flower room in front."
Princess Zhaoyang nodded, and then, led by someone, continued walking inside. Afterward, she went up the steps and arrived at the flower room of the princess's residence.
This greenhouse is actually connected to the main courtyard!
After Princess Zhaoyang entered the flower room, she no longer needed anyone to guide her or provide light. She walked slowly among the flowers, admiring their vibrant colors, and her unhappiness lessened somewhat.
Soon, she saw a young man in white robes watering a peony.
The movements were slow and gentle, as if afraid that if they were too rough, the flowers would die.
"Why are you here?"
The man in white didn't turn around, but just smiled and said, "It's too stuffy down there. These days, the princess has her husband by her side, so she doesn't need an outsider like me. That's why I came out to get some fresh air."
Upon hearing his words, Princess Zhaoyang's cheeks flushed slightly, and she showed a hint of shyness.
"What are you saying? Are you blaming me for neglecting you these days?"
The man in white turned around; he had delicate features and a handsome face.
“Your Highness, you flatter me. I am your advisor, and it is only natural that I should always consider your best interests.”
Princess Zhaoyang's face darkened slightly. "What strategist! In my heart, you are my beloved. Compared to you, what is the驸马 (imperial consort)? If it weren't for appearances, do you think I would have allowed that good-for-nothing to live in the princess's residence?"
"That's what the princess said."
Princess Zhaoyang's expression shifted slightly. "You seem quite indifferent today."
"The princess's plan failed. Am I right?"
"How do you know?"
"It's very simple! The Empress Dowager's favor towards the Empress now far exceeds her trust in the Princess. Therefore, simply trying to get to the Empress Dowager is simply not going to work."
"Then what do you think we should do?"
