Chapter 352 Monitoring Room
Chapter 352 Monitoring Room
At that moment, the atmosphere in the monitoring room at the assessment base was tense and serious. "Captain, this is the monitoring status of all the candidates. There are no major issues at the moment." A soldier, standing tall and straight, immediately stood at attention and saluted, respectfully reporting upon seeing Captain Ren Lin behind him.
"Well, you go ahead and do your work. I'll watch it myself." Ren Lin nodded slightly, speaking in a calm tone. He strode over to the monitoring station and sat down. His eyes quickly scanned the numerous surveillance screens, finally locking onto Nangong Jingming and his team.
"Zoom in on surveillance footage #106," Ren Lin ordered directly, his eyes fixed on the screen. He was filled with curiosity about Nangong Jingming and the others' actions and wanted to find out more.
"Yes." The soldier quickly operated the console and skillfully opened the surveillance footage of No. 106. The picture was instantly enlarged, and every move of Nangong Jingming and others was clearly presented before his eyes.
"What are they doing?" Ren Lin frowned, looking at the scene in confusion. He saw Nangong Jingming and his men gathered around a giant green-red snake insect carcass. Some were cutting it up, some were carrying it, and others seemed to be preparing cooking utensils. This left him completely confused.
"I don't know." The soldier carefully observed the screen, truly unable to comprehend Nangong Jingming and his companions' actions, and could only answer truthfully. Ren Lin's gaze remained fixed on the screen, his suspicions growing. He couldn't wait to know what Nangong Jingming and his companions were planning, and what unexpected changes this upcoming Green and Red Snake Insect Clan Snake Soup would bring to this assessment.
"Can you hear their conversation?" Ren Lin asked anxiously, his eyes fixed on the surveillance footage, his brows furrowed slightly. His curiosity surged like a tide, and he was increasingly eager to know what Nangong Jingming and the others were up to. Based solely on the footage before him, it was difficult to fathom their intentions.
"I'll try turning up the volume and lowering the surveillance bug a bit to see if I can hear more clearly." Upon hearing this, the soldier immediately immersed himself in the operation. His fingers danced rapidly on the control panel, his eyes revealing concentration and tension. While these surveillance devices are advanced, accurately capturing sounds in a specific area without being detected is no easy task. Beads of sweat dripped down the soldier's forehead. He knew the importance the commander attached to this surveillance, and there couldn't be a single mistake.
After some intense debugging, sound finally came out of the monitor.
"Zhou Wen, are we ready to eat?" Ye Xuexin rushed over to Pan Zhouwen, his eyes gleaming with anticipation, like a hungry little animal. He had already been intrigued by the faint aroma and couldn't wait to savor this unique dinner.
"Not yet! Just wait another ten minutes, or it won't taste good." Pan Zhouwen glanced at the timer in his hand and spoke slowly. His eyes revealed his focus and dedication to cooking. In his view, cooking is an art that requires patience and time. Only when the heat and time are just right can delicious dishes be cooked.
"Ten more minutes to wait! That's a long time." Ye Xuexin muttered in disappointment, a flicker of disappointment in his eyes. He swallowed hard and paced helplessly, hoping that the ten minutes would pass quickly.
"Brother Chen, is this really edible?" Number One, still in disbelief, walked over to Chen Zeyu, his tone filled with doubt. His mind kept replaying the terrifying appearance of the Zerg, along with his preconceived notion that they were inedible. He found it difficult to accept that these Zerg were about to become a meal.
"I've tested it, and it's edible and has high nutritional value," Chen Zeyu said affirmatively, patting Number One on the shoulder. His eyes revealed confidence and determination; as the tester, he had complete faith in the results.
"But, I remember that these weren't allowed!" Number One scratched his head, confusion written all over his face. In his memory, the Zerg had always been a dangerous and polluting existence, and eating them was simply a fantasy.
"It wasn't allowed before, but they used something to clean the contaminants, so it's now edible." Chen Zeyu looked at Nangong Jingming and the others busy at work, his eyes filled with curiosity and anticipation. He was also secretly looking forward to how this special dish would taste. He even couldn't help but imagine that if Zerg could be treated in this way in the future, their food source would be greatly enriched, no longer limited to those hard-to-swallow nutritional supplements.
"There's something like this? I've never heard of it." Number One was even more confused, his eyes wide open, as if trying to find the answer from Chen Zeyu's face. As far as he knew, there had never been anything in the interstellar space that could solve the problem of Zerg contamination.
"I haven't heard of it either, but it's true. So just wait and see. I won't lie to you," Chen Zeyu said solemnly, his eyes revealing an unquestionable determination. He knew that this not only concerned everyone's trust in the food, but also everyone's life safety. He would never joke about such a thing.
"Okay, I understand." Although Number One was still full of doubts, he chose to trust Chen Zeyu. In his heart, Chen Zeyu was a trustworthy elder brother. Since he was so sure, there must be a reason for this matter.
At this moment, a tall and strong woman, though not particularly good-looking, walked towards Chen Zeyu. "Brother, why does it smell so good? What happened?" Chen Xiaomei sniffed the aroma in the air as she walked, her face full of confusion.
"Little sister, if you're not feeling well, just lie down for a while." Chen Zeyu saw his sister come out and immediately stood up. He walked quickly to her side and carefully helped her sit down next to him. His eyes were full of concern. His sister's health had always been a concern in his heart, but now he was not at home, so he could only take care of her as much as possible.
"Brother, I just feel sick in my stomach, I'm not unable to move, no need to help me," Chen Xiaomei said helplessly. Although she appreciated her brother's concern, she didn't want to be overly cared for, as she felt she could still move freely.
"You still have to be careful. This concerns your whole life. Are you feeling better now?" Chen Zeyu squatted down and looked at his sister with concern, his eyes revealing deep worry. In his heart, his sister's health is always the most important thing.
"I feel much better. What's going on? You haven't told me yet." Chen Xiaomei looked at the busy crowd around her curiously, and couldn't wait to know what everyone was doing.
