Chapter 39 Buying Sheep
Chapter 39 Buying Sheep
"Then Dad will take you there!" Father Li said as he waved the whip in his hand and drove the ox cart slowly towards the street behind the cattle market.
This street is much quieter than the noisy cattle market ahead, but it is just as lively.
There are all kinds of poultry stalls here, and the dazzling array of goods is dazzling.
There are lively chickens, ducks and geese, bleating goats and fat pigs. It is like a small zoo and a veritable hodgepodge.
When they passed a shop selling sheep, Li Youran suddenly shouted excitedly: "Dad, stop! Look at the sheep in that shop, they are so strong!"
Upon hearing the sound, Father Li stopped the ox cart and looked over. As expected, he saw that the sheep in the store were all fat and strong, with shiny fur, which was indeed very good.
The two men immediately jumped off the ox cart, and Li's father led the cart to an empty space nearby.
The big buffalo seemed to be quite intelligent, standing there obediently and not moving.
Father Li led Li Youran into the store with confidence and began to carefully select ewes.
After walking around the flock, Li Youran's eyes fell on five ewes. Then he turned to the shop owner and said, "I want these five sheep. Please buy the ram over there as well!"
The shop owner smiled happily after hearing this, as such a large business deal was rare. He nodded and agreed immediately, saying that he would help them deal with the sheep as soon as possible.
After a little thought, Li Youran realized that it would not be easy to bring the sheep back, so he turned to the shopkeeper and added: "Please be sure to transport these sheep to Lijia Village the day after tomorrow. Remember to deliver them on time at the 3:00 p.m. Someone will come to pick them up then." Li Youran had already made plans. Tomorrow he needed to find the village chief to purchase land, and he also had to build a sheep pen to raise the sheep.
When Mr. Li heard that his daughter had thought so carefully, he felt relieved.
Father Li turned his gaze to the shopkeeper and asked, "Then let's do as my daughter says! I wonder how much silver a ewe like this sells for?"
The shopkeeper responded respectfully, "Okay, sir. Our ewes are 900 coins each, and rams are only 600 coins. These ewes are all new ewes that have just given birth, and they all have lambs. The lambs are given away as gifts... You also need to pay a deposit."
Li Youran thought to himself that the price seemed a little expensive, but then he thought that he might be able to make more profit in the future, so he decided it was worth it.
Seeing that his daughter had no objection, Mr. Li took out some silver and gave it to the shopkeeper as a deposit.
After the sheep are delivered, the balance can be paid, and then the father and daughter walk out of the store. Li Youran and his father sit on the ox cart, and his father asks, "Ran'er, is there anything else you need?"
"Dad, we don't need anything anymore. Let's go home. Mom must be worried!" Li Youran had already figured it out in her mind. She already had a lot of things in her space, so there was no need to buy them.
Father Li did not sell mushrooms today. He knew that many people must know that mushrooms are edible, and many small vendors have already started selling them.
Father Li drove the ox cart and quickly arrived at the door of his house. As usual, he drove the oxen into the cowshed and fed them some grass.
Li Youran completed a big task and was very happy. What she had to do now was to take out the supplies for making milk tea from the space.
Father Li hurried to the fields to check on the growth of his crops.
It was still early today when they returned home. Ye had just started to cook dinner when Li Youran ran into the kitchen impatiently and said to Ye happily, "Mom, I asked Dad to buy five ewes and a ram. I plan to use them to make delicious milk tea!"
When Mrs. Ye heard her daughter's wonderful idea, her eyes were filled with love and admiration.
She firmly believed that following her daughter's footsteps was the right thing to do, so she expressed her support without hesitation: "Oh? Milk tea? Sounds interesting! Okay, everything is still your idea!" Ye stared at the well-behaved and lovely daughter in front of her, secretly thanking her luck that she must have accumulated virtue and done good deeds in her previous life to have such a smart and clever child.
However, when asked what milk tea was, Li Youran was stunned and didn't know how to answer.
After thinking for a moment, she suddenly had an idea and explained: "Well... milk tea is milk and tea leaves." Although this answer was a bit simple, Ye still nodded as if she understood it.
Then, Li Youran continued as if she had made up her mind: "Mom, I want to reveal a little secret to everyone during dinner later. It's my secret..." There was a hint of worry in her words, as if she was worried that this secret could not be kept for long.
Instead of being nervous, it is better to tell the truth. Maybe your family will help keep the secret.
Thinking of this, Li Youran felt a little relieved, but there was still a bit of melancholy lingering in his heart.
"Okay, we respect Ran'er. If you want to tell it, your family will keep it a secret for you!" Ye could guess something, but did not say it out loud.
