Chapter 1150: Evil Formation
Chapter 1150: Evil Formation
With a wave of his hand, he declared, "Let's go!" The group marched majestically toward the western side of the Black Forest. Ah Yan walked in the center, Ah Shu to his left, and Ah Shan, the tribe's veteran hunter, to his right. Ah Shu clutched a stone spear, his palms sweating with nervousness. He whispered to Ah Yan, "Ah Yan, do you think we can win today? The Blackwood Tribe outnumbers us." Ah Yan patted his shoulder and said, "Don't worry. We have fire and so many brave tribesmen. We can definitely win." Even so, Ah Yan felt a little nervous. Although he had hunted wild boar and deer with the hunting team, he had never fought against people from other tribes and had no idea what a real fight would be like. As the group entered the Black Forest, sunlight filtered through the leaves, casting dappled shadows on the ground like dancing spots of light. But this warm sunlight couldn't penetrate the heaviness that weighed on everyone's hearts. Everyone was silent, the only sound of footsteps and the clash of weapons distinctly audible in the quiet of the Black Forest. After about two hours of walking, they finally reached the water blockage that Lie and Ah Yan had seen yesterday. Ah Yan paused, his eyes fixed on the riverbed ahead. The pile of rocks and branches still formed a small mountain, completely blocking the remaining flow. A black wooden stick stuck nearby bore the totem of the Blackwood Tribe, swaying gently in the wind, a striking effect. Strangely, there wasn't a single Blackwood tribe member around. "Something's wrong," Lie frowned, halting and motioning for everyone to move forward. "If the Blackwood tribe dared to block our water supply, they'd surely have guards here. There's no way they wouldn't be alone." Shi nodded, his eyes scanning the surrounding trees warily. "Everyone, be careful! There might be an ambush. Ah Shan, take a few men to the left woods; Ah Shi, take a few men to the right." Ah Shan and Ah Shi responded immediately, each leading three of their own tribesmen and cautiously heading into the woods on either side. The rest of the group formed a circle, weapons tightly gripped, and vigilantly stared around. Ah Yan's heart beat faster and faster. He gripped his stone spear tightly, his eyes fixed on the woods, fearing a sudden burst of Blackwood Tribe members from within. Time ticked by, but Ah Shan and Ah Shi still hadn't returned. The surroundings were eerily quiet, broken only by the rustling of leaves in the wind. Just then, a scream erupted from the woods to the left—it was Ah Shan's voice! "Oh no!" Lie shouted, raising his crossbow, arrows on the string. "Everyone, prepare for battle!" As soon as he finished speaking, a group of men suddenly burst out from the woods on either side, holding stone axes and spears. Their faces painted with black lines, they rushed towards the Firestone Tribe like a pack of black beasts—the Blackwood Tribe! Leading the way was the Blackwood leader, Black Tooth. He was a towering figure, half a head taller than Lie, and he wielded a massive stone axe, its blade stained with dark red blood. It was clear that he or one of his men had been responsible for the screams. Black Fang burst into laughter upon seeing the Firestone tribe. His voice was harsh and unpleasant. "Firestone, you've finally arrived! I've been waiting for you!" Shi stepped forward, gripping his stone staff tightly. He pointed at Black Fang, "Black Fang, remove the rocks blocking the water and let the water flow back to our tribe. Let's pretend nothing happened today. Otherwise, don't blame us for being rude!" "You're welcome?" Black Fang sneered, the black lines on his face twisting as his expression twisted, appearing particularly ferocious. "Last year during the drought, you stole the Black Forest's only spring, causing several of our tribe to die of thirst. We haven't settled that score yet! This year it's our turn! If you want water, you'll have to defeat us!" With that, Black Fang raised his stone axe and shouted to the sky, "Kill!" Immediately, the Blackwood tribe rushed towards the Firestone tribe like crazy. They outnumbered the Firestone tribe, numbering around seventy. Their weapons were heavier, and many of them had sticks tied to their stone axes for further swings. "Don't be afraid, everyone! Fight them!" Lie shouted, pulled the crossbow to its full extent, and shot an arrow. The arrow passed through the crowd like a flash of lightning, and hit a member of the Black Wood Tribe on the shoulder. The man screamed, and the stone axe in his hand fell to the ground. He fell to the ground and rolled several times, and then he didn't move. The people of the Fire Stone Tribe were not to be outdone. They all raised their weapons and rushed forward. In an instant, the sound of weapons colliding, people shouting and screaming rang out in the black forest. The smell of blood quickly spread, making people feel nauseous. A Yan followed Lie closely, holding the stone spear that Lie gave him in his hand, his palms full of sweat. He looked at the fight in front of him, his heart beating "bang bang", almost jumping out of his throat. A member of the Blackwood tribe charged at him, stone axe in hand. A Yan retreated in terror. Quick-witted, Lie shot an arrow into the man's leg. He stumbled, and A Yan seized the opportunity to stab him in the abdomen with a stone spear. The man fell to the ground, spitting blood. He soon died. A Yan looked at the blood on the stone spear, his stomach churning, and he nearly vomited. This was the first time in his life that he had killed someone. The warm blood splattered on his hands, sending shivers through him. "Don't stand there!" Lie yelled, shooting down another enemy. "There's someone behind us!" A Yan regained consciousness and saw another Blackwood youth charging toward him. He was about his own age, but looked even thinner. His face was unpainted with black lines, and he held a sharpened wooden stick, the tip still caked with dirt. Fear filled the boy's eyes, but he still charged forward and struck A Yan in the head with it. Ah Yan quickly dodged to the side, the stick brushing past his ear and hitting a nearby tree with a crisp "crack." Ah Yan stabbed the boy in the arm with his stone spear, causing blood to flow immediately, staining his black hide red. The boy cried out in pain and took a step back, tears welling in his eyes, but he didn't rush over. He simply held his injured arm, standing there blankly. Ah Yan looked at him, suddenly feeling a pity—he remembered the boy from the Black Wood tribe he had met in the hunting grounds three days ago. He was just as thin and helpless. They were just trying to find something to eat, to survive, but they were forced to participate in this fight. But before Ah Yan could think any further, a tall member of the Black Wood tribe came at him, holding a stone axe. The man's face was covered in flesh, with three black lines painted on it, making him look particularly fierce. Ah Yan was so scared that he quickly dodged to the side, but he was still a step too slow. The stone axe brushed his shoulder and cut through his hide, causing a burning pain on his shoulder. Lie saw that Ah Yan was in danger, and immediately drew his crossbow and shot an arrow at the tribesman's leg. The man staggered,
